FAB things to see and do!

Well, it's cold and it's wet for the 10000th time this week. Instead of moping about it I decided to take myself on a mini vacation - at least in my mind (where it's warm and the unicorns run free) - and pick some downright exciting places and wacky events to travel to...

Call it a bucket list if you will...

JANUARY

Indy's Bourbon and Bacon Festival

January 29th, 2019 - Indianapolis

Well - I am from Kentucky!  And the Title DOES say BACON - so yep. I'm ALL for it.

FEBRUARY

Apple Valley Hillbilly Garden and Toyland

All year round - Calvert City, KY

"Wander around, and you’ll come across some truly wacky stuff. A stroll through the woods reveals old junk that’s been transformed into various works of folk art. Keep an eye out for intriguing objects like the Potty Mouth Tree, Lawn Mower Ranch, Gulfman, and Thronehenge."

Can anyone say ROAD TRIP! Perfect reason to EXPLORE Western Kentucky.

APRIL

The Flora-Bama Mullet Toss

April 26, 27 & 28th - The Flora/Bama state line

How did I manage to get through Highschool in Pensacola, FL without ever knowing this event existed?  Happening at the end of April, this Annual Dead Fish Flinging competition is supposed to be the panhandles party to end all parties. Hotel rooms book out WAY in advance.... LIKE WAY IN ADVANCE.... So best be quick about it.

MAY

JAZZFEST

April 25 – April 28 and on May 2 – 5

Can I get a HANDS UP for JAZZ FEST NOLA People? The 50th Jazz Fests line up is well nothing short of  SPECTACULAR....

The Rolling Stones, Dave Matthews Band, Katy Perry, Jimmy Buffett and Chris Stapleton, Bob Seger And The Silver Bullet Band, Santana, Van Morrison, Al Green, Earth, Wind & Fire, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue with Nevilles, Gladys Knight, The Revivalists, Leon Bridges, John Fogerty, Chaka Khan, Herbie Hancock, Tank and The Bangas, Bonnie Raitt, Irma Thomas, Gary Clark Jr., The Head and The Heart, The Doobie Brothers, Jimmy Cliff, Ziggy Marley, Aaron Neville, Boz Scaggs, Galactic, Jerry Lee Lewis, Indigo Girls, Rebirth Brass Band, Mavis Staples, Los Lobos, Big Freedia, Kamasi Washington, Rita Coolidge, Buddy Guy, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Taj Mahal & the Phantom Blues Band, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk,Ani DiFranco, the Radiators, Hurray for the Riff Raff, Little Feat, Anders Osborne, North Mississippi Allstars, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Foundation of Funk, George Porter Jr. & Runnin’ Pardners, Steve Earle & the Dukes, The Soul Rebels and many others.

You had me at the Rolling Stones and Trombone Shorty (and like everyone else!).

JULY

MOONING OF THE AMTRAK - CALIFORNIA

Yes, People REALLY DO THIS.

AUGUST

BE A PIRATE...

...And take up residence in a House Boat on Lake Cumberland embracing my inner Jack Sparrow. I just want to be able to make people walk the plank, in between swilling rum, while trying to adopt a REALLY bad British pirate accent. May need to learn how to drive a boat....

SEPTEMBER

BOURBON AND BEYOND

September 14th & 15th - Louisville, KY

I don't even know who the line-up is this year, THEY HAD ME at Bourbon.  This music festival goes down annually right here in Kentucky.  Last Years was a little wet - BUT - I channeled Glastonbury and had an absolute blast. With a killer line-up and fabulous food choices, this is MY go to festival of the summer.
