The color-coded map shows whether frost is expected to end earlier, close to average, or later than normal:
🟢 Green — Earlier Than Normal
- Plant earlier than usual
🟡 Yellow — Near Normal
- Plant as usual
🔵 Blue — Later Than Normal
- Delay planting
“In spring, even small shifts in frost timing can have an outsized impact,” said Catherine Boeckmann, Executive Digital Editor of The Old Farmer’s Almanac. “This map adds focused insight around one of the season’s most consequential thresholds.”
While designed with gardeners in mind, the map is useful for anyone whose early spring plans depend on freezing temperatures, including homeowners, farmers, landscapers, nurseries, beekeepers, and managers of parks, athletic fields, and golf courses.
