Oakland McDonald's Settles Lawsuit Over 'Dog Diaper' Masks

An Oakland McDonald's has just settled a lawsuit brought by employees who claimed they were forced to wear facemasks made from 'dog diapers'.

Workers say they that instead of being given real facemasks, they were made to wear masks made from diapers and coffee filters. They even claim that management's lack of proper safety precautions led to a COVID-19 outbreak among the staff.

One plaintiff said "we were being treated like dogs — giving us dog diapers to use as masks. We are not dogs.”
McDonald's released a statement in response that read: “While we’re confident that any outlier conduct like that alleged in these complaints does not reflect what has broadly happened and continues to happen across 14,000 U.S. McDonald’s locations, we’re no less focused on ensuring that we have clear processes and the right resources to promote the safety and well-being of crew and customers.”

The settlement includes stronger safety measures and more sick leave for employees. However, it's not clear yet if there will be any financial consideration for the workers.
