A tragic high-speed crash on Thursday (July 17) in San Antonio, Texas, left four people dead and 18 injured, including children and seniors. The incident occurred on Interstate 35 when a stolen Chevy Camaro collided with a small passenger bus towing a trailer. The San Antonio Police Department is actively searching for four suspects who fled the scene, one of whom was armed with an AK-style rifle.
The crash happened when the Camaro, speeding southbound on I-35, struck the bus operated by Fort Worth-based Transportes Guerra. The impact caused the bus to lose control, veer into the path of an 18-wheeler, and roll over, ejecting several passengers. Two bus passengers died at the scene, and two more succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.
San Antonio Police Chief Bill McManus confirmed that the suspects fled without offering aid. The police have urged the public to avoid the Leon Creek area of southbound I-35 as the manhunt continues.
The Star-Telegram reported that Tito Guerra, the owner of Transportes Guerra, was among those killed. The victims' ages range from young children to seniors. University Hospital in San Antonio is treating 15 patients, with two in critical condition.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking for any information that could lead to the suspects' capture.
