Five 'Small Children' Among Six Dead In Oklahoma Shooting

One adult and five "small children" were shot and killed by a relative in Muskogee, Oklahoma, early Tuesday (February 2) morning. Police responded to a call that multiple people were shot and encountered the suspected shooter when they arrived.

The shooter brandished a firearm, and one of the officers fired a single shot from his service rifle but missed. The suspect fled from the scene but was apprehended following a short foot chase.

Inside the house, officers found six people had been shot. Four children and an adult male were dead at the scene. One of the children was still alive and airlifted to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead. A female victim also survived and is being treated for life-threatening injuries.

Authorities have not released the names of the victims or the suspect. They have not said what motived the shooter to kill the children but believe it was a domestic issue.

"I can't say how, but we believe the suspect in custody is related to the victims," Muskogee Police Chief Johnny Teehee told NBC News.
