The Charleston RiverDogs swept a doubleheader from the Lexington Legends Thursday night by scores of 6-2 and 5-1.

 

In game one, the Legends scored a run in the second inning when Dex Kjerstad singled, stole second and scored on a single by Alexis Rivera.  Charleston tied the game in the bottom of the second on a run-scoring single by Jackson Valera.

 

The RiverDogs scored three runs in the third.  Back-to-back doubles by Dustin Fowler and Miguel Andujar produced one run.  Michael O’Neill singled Andujar to third, from where he scored on a single by Eduardo de Oleo.  Gosuke Katoh grounded into a double play as O’Neill moved from second to third, and Jackson Valera’s single scored O’Neill, giving Charleston a 4-1 lead.

 

Rivera’s run-scoring single in the fourth cut the lead to two at 4-2, but Charleston added two more runs in the fifth. O’Neill led off with a single, stole second, moved to third on a ground out by Katoh, and scored on a single by Jackson Valera.  Valera moved to second on a wild pitch, and scored on a single by John Murphy, giving the RiverDogs their final margin.

 

Charleston starter Rookie Davis (4-8) got the win.  Luke Farrell (1-8), who started for the Legends, was the losing pitcher.

 

In the second game, Charleston opened the scoring with three runs in the third inning, two scoring on a double by Miguel Andujar. 

 

The Legends scored their only run in the fifth on a single by Fred Ford, a ground out, and a double by Carlos Garcia.  Charleston added single runs in the fifth and sixth to close out the scoring.

 

Charleston reliever Giovanny Gallegos (2-4), who entered the game in the third inning, got the win.

 

Legends starter Tripp Davis (2-2) was the losing pitcher.

 

The Legends open a four-game series in Savannah Friday night. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
